Dive Rite Air Cells (Wings)

On This Page: Air Cell Features | Air Cells | Recommendations | Pricing
Dive Rite Wings
Dive Rite air cells are available in many different designs supporting various combinations of single and double cylinders. Some designs are a a "donut" shape, others are a "horseshoe" shape. All air cells work with both the TransPac and TransPlateas well as a traditional backplate/harness. Each air cell incorporates an airtight inner bladder, surrounded by an outer shell constructed of heavy-duty ballistic nylon and an oral/power inflation assembly. The tough ballistic nylon outer bag protects the wing from tears and abrasion. The 15-mil urethane bladder is abrasion resistant, chemical resistant and resists the growth of microorganisms. Some versions offer redundant inner bladders with separate inflators. Some air cells also include an adjustable/removable gusset-control cord to better control the shape characteristics of the air cell. Wings in Color

Remote Exhaust and Elbow Air cells come standard with a low-pressure hose, oral/power inflator, 16-inch corrugated hose, and a remote exhaust valve. A cable runs from the inflator inside the corrugated hose up to the remote exhaust valve. To exhaust gas from the air cell, you need only tug gently on the inflator.

Plain Elbow
The remote exhaust valve can be replaced with a plain non-exhaust elbow. Various length (-6, -12, -16, -22 inch) corrugated hoses are available to fine tune the location of the inflator to the divers' preference.
Dump Valve
Every wing includes a combination overpressure relief and pull-to-dump valve.

Rite Source Backup Regulator An excellent tool for streamlining the recreational sport diver, substitute the Rite Source BC integrated backup regulator for the standard inflator at the time you order your aircell and SAVE $100. The Rite Source is supplied with a hi-flow quick coupling hose (included) that replaces your standard low pressure BC inflator hose; thus eliminating the hose and dangling octopus regulator that is a hassle. When needed, the Rite Source allows the diver to breathe normally as from any second stage. While breathing, the diver can simultaneously and rapidly inflate the BC as well as deflate, or orally inflate, as you would on any standard inflator mechanism.

Which Wing Do I Need?

The cylinder size, type and configuration, not lift capacity, is the best guide to selecting the correct wing. While many doubles wing designs can be adjusted for occasional use with singles, keep in mind they are not designed to be used primarily as singles wings and they are not optimal with singles. Realistically, there is no wing perfect for both singles and doubles, or even a wing perfect for all doubles. If the range of cylinder configurations you dive is broad, then the best choice for efficient and comfortable diving may be to own more than one wing.

Air Cells Overview

Travel Wings Travel Wings

Travel 360

The Travel 360 is the most compact and streamlined Dive Rite air cell. They can provide up to 40 pounds of lift and can accommodate single aluminum 63 and 80 cylinders, as well as single steel 80 and 100 cylinders. The Travel Wing is a popular choice among warm water divers looking for a compact single tank wing that is lightweight and easy to pack for travel. The donut-style shape provides an even volume of inflation, keeping single tank divers steady and trim underwater.

Travel Wings available in black only.
Travel Wings Travel Wings (reverse)

Venture 360

Ideal for diving heavier single tanks with a hard backplate, the Venture Wing has 45 pounds of lift and can accommodate the largest of single tanks or is often used with rebreathers. The trapezoid-shape gives divers lift around the hips where it is needed to achieve horizontal trim underwater. Streamlined side panels expand to maximize lift capacity, yet keep a sleek, trim profile reducing drag in the water.

Venture Wings are now available in red and blue and black.
Trek Wings Trek Wings (reverse)

Trek Wings

Shorter in length, the Trek Wing is ideal for divers who require more lift at the head and less around the waist in order to achieve horizontal trim. It is also popular with divers who divide their time underwater between diving single tanks and lightweight double tanks. The Trek wing now has 47 pounds/21 kgs of lift and can accommodate up to 85 ft3/13 L twin backmount tanks and one 80 ft3/11 L stage tank. Frequently used with double aluminum 80s they prevent side-to-side sloshing of large air pockets common with larger air cells.

Trek Wings are now available in red and blue and black.
Rec Wings Rec Wings (reverse)

Rec Wings

Designed to be worn with double tanks or singles, the Rec Wing is popular due to its versatility. The Rec Wing employs a Gusset Control System (GCS) cord woven through tabs on the front face of the wing. When tightened, the cord limits lift capacity so the Rec Wing can be used with single backmount tanks. When the GCS cord is loosened, the Rec Wing provides its full lift capacity of 51 pounds/23 kg of lift and can accommodate double 95 ft3/15 L back mounted cylinders. Loose or tight, the GCS cord helps the Rec Wing maintain a small profile for divers traversing in tight passages and the cord compression helps in dumping air. Rec Wings are a good choice for divers who, while they may primarily use doubles, want to be able to configure their air cell for occasional use with single cylinders as well.

Rec Wings are now available in red and blue and black.
Dual Rec Wings Dual Rec Wings

Dual Rec Wings

With the same versatility and lift capacity of the Rec Wing, the Dual Rec incorporates two bladders to provide back-up inflation. It is ideal for technical divers who dive wet and do not have a drysuit as alternate inflation or for any diver who wants to ensure their backup inflation has the same lift capacity as their primary inflation. The Dual Rec Wing employs the same Gusset Control System (GCS) cord as the Rec Wing. Woven through tabs on the front face of the wing, the cord limits lift capacity when tightened so the Dual Rec Wing can be used with single, backmount tanks. When the GCS cord is loosened, the Dual Rec full lift capacity is 51 pounds/23 kg of lift and can accommodate two 95 ft3/15 L back mounted cylinders. Loose or tight, the GCS cord helps the Rec Wing maintain a small profile for divers traversing in tight passages and the cord compression helps in dumping air.

Dual Rec Wings available in black only.
Classic Wings Classic Wings (reverse)

Classic Wings

Designed specifically for use with double cylinders, the Classic Wing is the most streamlined wing of its kind on the market. Its streamlined shape comes from the unique side panels that maintain lift capacity, while minimizing drag by reducing overall width. The Classic Wing provides up to 60 pounds/27 kg of lift and can accommodate two 104 ft3/17 L back mounted cylinders and one 80 ft3 /11 L stage bottle. Classic Wings are popular among many cave divers using drysuits, who appreciate their simple, streamlined, "no frills" design. (Classic Wings should not be used with single cylinders.)

Classic Wings are now available in red and blue and black.
Dual Classic Wings Dual Classic Wings (reverse)

Dual Classic Wings

With the same streamlined design and lift capacity of the Classic Wing, the Dual Classic incorporates two bladders to provide back-up inflation. Ideal for technical divers who dive wet and do not have a drysuit as alternate inflation or for any diver who wants to ensure the backup inflation has the same lift capacity as the primary inflation. The Dual Classic has the same unique, streamlined design of the Classic with side panels that maintain lift capacity, while minimizing drag by reducing overall width. The Dual Classic Wing provides up to 60 pounds/27 kg of lift and can accommodate two 104 ft3/17 L back mounted cylinders and one 80 ft3 /11 L stage bottle. (Dual Classic Wings should not be used with single cylinders.)

Dual Classic Wings available in black only.
Classic 360 Wings Classic 360 Wings (reverse)

Classic 360 Wings

Designed specifically for use with double cylinders, the Classic 360 Wing is the most streamlined donut wing of its kind on the market. The donut bladder design is preferred by some divers because it offers more precise control over buoyancy and prevents air from "sticking" in one side of the wing. New tech divers will often gravitate to donut wings as some find it easier to learn to dive doubles in a donut style wing. The Classic 360 Wing provides up to 65 pounds/29 kg of lift and can accommodate two 104 ft3/17 L back mounted cylinders and two 80 ft3 /11 L stage bottles. (Classic 360 Wings should not be used with single cylinders.)

Dual Classic Wings available in black only.
Super Wings Super Wings

Dual Super Wings

The Dual Super Wing incorporates two bladders to provide back-up inflation. It is designed for cold-water technical divers who need exceptional lift to counterbalance the negative buoyancy effects of thick wetsuits at depth along with their heavy gear and in order to float high above water in heavy, rough seas. The Super Wing is also ideal for any diver who carries multiple heavyweight tanks. The Super Wing employs a Gusset Control System (GCS) cord woven through tabs on the front face of the wing. The GCS cord helps the Super Wing maintain a small profile for divers traversing in tight passages and the helps compression when dumping air. The Super Wing provides up to 90 pounds/41 kgs of lift and can accommodate two 120 ft3/19 L back mounted cylinders and two 80 ft3 /11 L stage bottles.

Dual Super Wings available in black only.
