Dive Rite's traditional backplates and harnesses enable you to combine hard backplates made from different materials with harnesses in several design styles including the "Hogarthian" harness, popular with DIR divers. Dive Rite Single Tank Adapters (STA), Shoulder Pads and Lumbar Pads increase their convience and comfort.

Backplates

Dive Rite Backplates are available in anodized aluminum, or polished stainless steel. Aluminum backplates are the most popular with freshwater divers and divers using steel tanks. Some divers prefer stainless backplates due to the fact that they are approximately five pounds more negatively buoyant, which helps offset the additional buoyancy of saltwater or aluminum tanks.

The Aluminum and stainless steel backplates are exactly the same shape and size, both are 15.5-inches high and 10.5-inches wide. They are designed with 1-inch and 2-inch slots to accommodate your choice of crotch strap and come with holes along the sides for mounting accessories. The backplates are highly polished with rounded upper corners and include doubles mounting slots that allow easy assembly on doubles without alignment concerns.

The Dive Rite aluminum backplate now has an anodized black finish. Compared to the natural aluminum finish, the durable anodized aluminum finish provides greater corrosion resistance and a better consistency in appearance.

Single Tank Adapter

For divers who frequently switch between double tank and single tank rigs, the Dive Rite Single Tank Adapter is a convenient way to attach cam straps to a hard metal backplate that does not have tank band slots. Constructed of marine grade 304 stainless steel and includes two attachment bolts with wing nuts, and two rubber pads to protect the tank. Also available as a package that includes two Dive Rite S/S Stamped Cam Buckle Tank Straps.

Single Tank Mounting with Backplates

If you occassionally switch between doubles and singles, you can configure your backplate to attach to a single tank by adding two tank straps threaded through the tank strap slots of the aluminum and stainless steel backplates.
If you frequently switch between doubles and singles, you may prefer the speed and convience of adding the straps using an optional single tank adapter mounting plate. If you have a backplate design without the tank strap slots or use the ABS backplate, you must add the straps using a single tank adapter.

Harnesses

Dive Rite backplate Webbing Harnesses are available in Basic and Deluxe styles. The Basic harness is also called the "Hogarthian" harness, popular with DIR divers. The Deluxe harness is also available with a slide-release on the left shoulder. Both styles include shoulder and waist D-rings (shoulder D-rings are bent at a slight angle for better access), and a stainless steel buckle on the waist band.

The Basic webbing harness is made from a single piece of continuous webbing. Shown with optional 2.0-inch crotch strap w/scooter ring.	The Deluxe webbing harness incorporates a chest strap and shoulder-strap pivot rings that increase comfort. Shown with optional 1.0-inch crotch strap w/scooter ring.

Lumbar Backplate Pad

The Dive Rite Lumbar Backplate Pad is an option for divers that use a metal backplate in warm water conditions where little or no exposure protection is needed, or anytime more comfort is desired. The 10.5 x 16 inch pad mounts securely on any rigid backplate and features a quick release at the bottom, allowing the pad to be lifted for easy access to the backplate. The open-cell design does not compress due to pressure from the water column, so the pad is comfortable regardless of depth. The padding is also hydro-phobic, and post-dive it dries quickly.
