The TransPlate harness utilizes many features and benefits of the TransPac harness for divers who demand comfort and the perfect fit when using a backplate. The TransPlate transforms as quickly and as easily to accommodate everything from single cylinders to doubles with stage and deco bottles.

TransPlate Replacement Harness

Already have your backplate and air cell? Then all you need to purchase is the TransPlate harness itself. The harness shoulders and waist belt quickly install on any hard backplate. The harness comes complete with shoulder and waist D-rings, but does not include a backplate.

Wow, What a difference! I just switched from a jacket style BC to a TransPlate. I could not be happier. Before switching I had a hard time keeping up with my buddy. TransPlate Sizing
Dive Rite updated their TransPlate harness to offer improved size adjustability. The TransPlate has a new sizing chart. There are now four sizes: Medium, Large, XL, and XXL. The Medium is the size most commonly selected by women and smaller men. The Large or XL is the size most commonly selected by men. The XXL size is an option for taller or larger than average individuals.

Size Shoulder Strap Size Range

Medium 15 - 18 inches

Large 17 - 22 inches

X-Large 18.5 - 23.5 inches

XXL 24 inches & Up

The TransPlate harness is available in several sizes with size indicating shoulder strap length. Our experience at Dive Rite Express is that getting the fit correct is very important. Otherwise, the harness seems loose in the water. Don't guess. Please carefully take the actual measurements explained below to make sure you select exactly the right size. To ensure proper shoulder strap length, measure from a point at the top of the shoulder to a point immediately below the waist, as shown in the accompanying diagram. Be sure to allow for exposure suit thickness. As a general rule, men might consider selecting the same size TransPlate harness as their preferred T-shirt size.

Lumbar Backplate Pad

The Dive Rite Lumbar Backplate Pad is an option for divers that use a metal backplate in warm water conditions where little or no exposure protection is needed, or anytime more comfort is desired. The 10.5 x 16 inch pad mounts securely on any rigid backplate and features a quick release at the bottom, allowing the pad to be lifted for easy access to the backplate. The open-cell design does not compress due to pressure from the water column, so the pad is comfortable regardless of depth. The padding is also hydro-phobic, and post-dive it dries quickly.
