Dive Rite Spring-Heel Fins

Dive Rite Spring-Heel Fins offer an excellent combination of performance and value. Designed for performance, Dive Rite fins are ideal for diving in heavy flow or ripping currents. The special blade design works for any style of kick, including frog kicks, modified flutter, and power kicks. Preferred by technical divers, this fin helps the diver push heavy loads through currents, maximizing every ounce of energy. Don't let the power of the kick be lost in a split fin design. Injection molded from high quality monoprene gives divers the best performance with minimum effort. The pliable spring-heel strap allows for quick donning/doffing. A comfort heel pad and convenient pull tab adds to the ease of use.

The Dive Rite fins are available in four sizes. When selecting the size, keep in mind which style suit you will be diving -- wetsuit booties or a drysuit. The Extra Large size accommodates oversize drysuit boots.

These fins come with stainless steel stretch spring heel fin straps, specifically designed for Dive Rite fins. The spring design includes a comfort heel pad with convenience pull tab for ease of use.

Classic Power Fins and Turtle Fins

The Power Fin is the "original" diving swim fin in use for over 30 years, with a proven design that has maintained its popularity among experienced divers and is still the fin design used by the military. All rubber construction with heavy duty rubber fin straps and nearly indestructible stainless steel buckles, these fins provide performance power with minimal effort and tough reliable durability for years of service. Optional S/S spring heel fin straps are available.

Sizes are a bit small. Average sized feet (Men's size 10-11) will want at least the Large size Power Fin and if heavy booties the X-Large Power Fin; larger feet (Men's size 12-13) will take the X-Large Power Fin and if heavy booties the Turtle Fin. The Turtle Fin version is specifically for drysuit divers thanks to the supersized foot pocket that fits extra large drysuit boots when no other fin will fit properly.

Read the Scuba Diving Magazine test review of these fins: "Out in real-world diving, test divers who've been blowing bubbles for a couple decades or more simply loved this fin. Newer divers, however, tended to be put off by the squat, relatively heavy, all-rubber design. But almost all test divers agreed that the Power Fin can get the job done. The fin is very stable at depth, offers good blade-end snap, and does exceptionally well with alternate kicks. Divers with cameras felt it was, as one put it, "super-easy to back up and maneuver when taking photos." The foot pocket is soft and comfortable, but the old-style strap system can be difficult to adjust. The upside is that once it's adjusted it stays adjusted, and there's nothing plastic to lose or break."

Most divers agree with the reviewer comments about the fin strap adjustment and we recommend replacing the old-style strap with the stainless steel spring heel fin strap that has become so popular with technical divers. If you wish, we can even install the optional spring strap for you before we ship. If you are one of those divers "put off by the squat, relatively heavy, all-rubber design" then the Dive Rite Fins will be more appealing.

Universal Spring Straps

Spring heel fin straps are popular because they are extremely reliable and easy to use. Because there is nothing to clip, snap or adjust, spring straps make putting on and removing your fins easy and fast; especially if you have to do it in the water! They automatically adjust to the divers feet during the dive, compensating for depth and compression of boot material.

These heavy-duty professionally manufactured Universal Spring Straps are made from stainless steel springs and covered with nylon tube webbing to protect the spring and provide padding. The springs have machined Delrin ends that attach to one of three types of stainless steel adapter fittings with a stainless screw and Nylock stainless nut. Nylon cave line on the inside of the spring prevents over-extension of the strap.

Universal Spring Straps are available in three different lengths of 8, 10 and 12 inches. Sizing is not critical because springs of course do stretch to fit, so choose the length based on the size of your fin and your preference for a snug or loose fit. For small size fins, use the 8-inch length. For medium fins the 8-inch will be snug, and 10-inch will be loose. For large fins, we recommend the 10-inch length and it's by far the most popular size. For X-large fins we suggest the 10-inch for a snug fit and for a looser fit or with drysuit boots go with the 12-inch. The oversized Turtle fins are definitely the 12-inch length.

Note that 8 and 10-inch straps include the pull tabs pictured above. However, the tab may be cut off. The 12-inch size does not include a pull tab.

Each pair of Universal Spring Straps includes three different sets of adapter fittings that allow them to attach to almost any diving fin. They come already setup with the "old school" fitting for Jet, Rocket, Power and Turtle Fins. Change to the "large post" fitting for almost all modern fins that have a standard molded post attachment point. Use the "small post" fitting for Atomic brand split fins.

The same Dive Rite design found on Dive Rite fins, but made for Jet, Rocket, and Power Fins. The key benefits of the Dive Rite stainless steel spring straps are the much larger comfort pads, along with the easy-grip convenience pull tab. They also have the same proven attachment method as old school fin straps, just use pliers to close the stainless clips on to the fin attachment point. The 10.5-inch size fits large and x-large size fins.
