Remora Tank Mounting System

The Dive Rite Remora Redundant Tank Mounting System makes it incredibly easy to mount pony bottles on single and double cylinders. The system consists of two interlocking metal sections and secures the cylinders to each other using your choice of stainless steel cylinder clamps or tank straps. The Remora comes assembled with a blue cushion pad for the large diameter cylinder (7-inch to 8-inch) and one yellow cushion pad for the small diameter cylinder (4-inch to 5-inch).

A spare blue cushion pad is included, allowing two mounting systems to be configured as an independent twins rig (see Tek Tip). Two Remoras, four straps and a set of bolts are used to convert two ordinary single cylinders to a back-mounted dual-cylinder configuration. Remora mounting systems should not be used in place of steel bands with manifolded doubles.

The Remora sections fit on any 2.0-inch tank strap. For example one section can be on the main tank strap on most single-tank BC or harness systems, or a separate tank strap designed solely to hold the pony bottle hardware in place. The other section mounts on the pony bottle, using two sheathed stainless steel cylinder clamps to attach the mount to the pony. The Remora is also used as part of the cylinder mounting system for the Dive Rite O2ptima rebreather.

Independent Twins Are Not Doubles In the U.S., twins is the word usually applied to two cylinders whose gas contents are not connected together in any way. Independent twins systems are especially handy when traveling and only rental single cylinders are available. Doubles is the word usually applied to two cylinders when they ARE connected together via a manifold to form a single gas source. Outside the U.S. the words 'twins' and 'doubles' may be used interchangeably. Describing twins as independent is a bit redundant, but does emphasize that they are not connected. Describing doubles as independent refers to using them with the manifold isolator closed during normal operation. Keeping two different gas mixtures in either twins or isolated doubles is considered an unsafe practice by many because of the risk of inadvertently breathing the wrong mix.

Quick Clip Pony Mounting System

The quick-release Quick Clip Pony Mounting System makes it incredibly easy to mount pony bottles on single and double cylinders. The system consists of two interlocking metal sections and two included sheathed stainless-steel stage clamps.

The quick-release section fits on any 2.0-inch tank strap. This can be the main tank strap on most single-tank BC or harness systems, or a separate tank strap designed solely to hold the pony bottle hardware in place. The other metal section with posts mounts on the pony bottle, using two sheathed stainless steel cylinder clamps to attach the mount to the pony.

Both the Remora and Quick Clip mounting systems thread on
to the existing tank strap of the primary cylinder BC.

If you are using doubles, or prefer not to attach
to the BC tank strap, purchase an additional tank strap.
