The Dive Rite Hurricane Regulator is a premium high-performance, pneumatically balanced first and second stages designed for cold-water service. The Hurricane uses oxygen-compatible o-rings and lubricants, making it Nitrox Ready right out of the box. The Hurricane also comes Cold-Water Ready with an integrated anti-freeze system. The second stage includes both an inhalation adjustment knob and an ergonomic venturi switch for easy in water adjustments, even with gloves. A specially designed purge button and face cover offers maximum free-flow resistance against surge and strong currents. The Hurricane has an extra-wide exhaust tee that decreases exhalation resistance and allows bubbles to travel past the face and out of sight.

More About Cold Water Regulators

Diving in cold water conditions, where temperatures drop below 50° F, presents some special challenges for the second stage in all SCUBA regulators. The gas coming to the second stage is already cold due to the expansion cooling effect of the pressure reduction in the first stage. There is a further drop in temperature for the same reason around the second stage low-pressure seat and poppet. When combined with the breathing humidity entering the second stage body, a second stage regulator mechanism can freeze and cause uncontrollable free-flow. To address this problem, a patented heat exchanger has been designed to warm internal parts of the Hurricane second stage. The special cold water ready second stage combined with the most compact cold water ready first stage available makes the Hurricane regulator an excellent choice for cold-water diving.

Dive Rite Express offers diving products labeled "Nitrox Ready", whose oxygen-compatible components are free of hydrocarbons and other contaminants. With Dive Rite Express , you don't have to make expensive aftermarket alterations to use oxygen-rich gas mixtures.

How do the Hurricane Regulator (RG3500) and the RG3000 Regulator differ?

The key difference is the Hurricane is a premium cold-water ready regulator with integrated anti-freeze system included in the base price. For the RG3000, an optional first stage anti-icing environmental sealing kit is available at additional cost. The Hurricane is offers fixed position ports in a very compact first stage, while the RG3000 ports are on a swivel turret. Both regulators have native 300-Bar DIN fittings, but the RG3000 price also includes an RG1225 spinon DIN-to-Yoke adapter.

The Hurricane Regulator comes with Dive Rite's limited lifetime warranty and free service kits for life through an authorized Dive Rite dealer as long as the regulator is serviced by an authorized Dive Rite dealer every two years or one hundred dives.
