Dive Rite Compass

Oil-filled for precision operation to depths of 260-feet (80m), the Dive Rite Compass offers multiple mounting options and can be worn on the wrist or mounted to any standard HP hose. For a lower profile, technical divers can replace the rubber strap with shock cord bungee. It features a rotating 360-degree bezel with click stops and direct and reciprocal index points. The special design of the compass needle card and powerful magnets provides smooth movement across a wide range of motion. Large, easy-to-read numbers are displayed on the face and in the side window with index marks at 10-degree increments.

Suunto SK-7 Compass

The high-quality liquid filled Suunto SK-7 has set a new standard for dive compasses. The superior SK-7 features an exceptional tilt potential of +/- 30°, which is 2-3 times larger than in conventional diving compasses, easy-to-read numerals on a phosphorescent compass card and a large side-reading window. The firm-grip bezel with a ratchet at every fifth degree is especially designed to prevent sand and dirt contamination, thus allowing smooth turning in all conditions. Our price includes the popular Deep Sea Supply SK-7 low profile depth compensating bungie mount and 18-inches of 1/8" bungie.

Compass Balance Zones Compasses are designed for use within a certain area of the globe because the earths magnetic field not only varies horizontally, but also vertically, causing the needle to dip downward when the case is held level. The compass needle card is balanced with a small weight to counteract the downward dip so the needle card does not drag or stick on the top or bottom of the capsule. The earth is divided into five zones and compasses are manufactured as balanced to work best in one of those five zones. The northern hemisphere is pretty much all zone 1, a band containing the Caribbean is zone 2, the equator is zone 3, much of South America is zone 4 and Australia is in zone 5. If you take any compass to a significantly different part of the globe than where it was balanced, check the compass carefully before relying upon it. The compasses we sell are balanced for North America and will work fine in the Caribbean and Mexico.
