Cutting Tools

These cutting device sheaths can be worn on a standard 2-inch waist belt. These sheaths also include a special Annex clip that allows them attach to the pocket daisy chain loops on Dive Rite's harness pockets, using heavy-duty Annex clips that slip through daisy chain loops and snap into place. These clips are rugged and won't come unclasped underwater. To remove, you must pinch the ends slightly to get the clip to release... easy enough, but not so easy that it comes undone all on its own. The sheath clip will also close around cylinder hose retainers, wrist straps, gaiters or a chest strap. A quick-release Velcro lanyard keeps the cutting tools securely in place.

Available in three versions:

Z-knife - A protected razor-sharp blade stored away in a pouch. Sharper than a dive knife, the Z-Knife is preferred for cutting through monofilament and braid line.
XL Line Cutter - Preferred by cold-water divers because it is large and easy-to-grip with gloves. It can also be disassembled and replace its cutting edge with a utility knife blade.
Trauma shears - Carried by ocean divers for use in cutting wire or fishing nets, our heavy-duty Trauma Shears have salt-water ready stainless steel construction.

Hogarthian Knife

The Dive Rite version of the traditional Hogarthian line cutting tool popular with cave divers. The knife includes a very sharp stainless steel 2-inch serrated blade. (Betty would approve.) The knife includes a DIR waistbelt webbing sheath that is hot-knife trimmed and professionally stitched.

Dive Rite also offers the following alternatives to the Z-knife 2-inch belt mount pouch:

1-inch strap mount employs a simple 1-inch slot in the pouch. This makes mounting your Z-knife to your computer strap, chest strap, or other 1-inch webbing ideal.
Vertical shoulder mount employs two Velcro loops: one to attach to a two-inch shoulder strap, and the other to secure to a D-ring, belt slide, etc. (D-ring and belt slide not included.)

Note that the stainless steel for all these cutting tools is of a 400-series grade selected specifically to keep a sharp edge.
After diving, you must rinse the diving tool in fresh water, dry it, and not replace it until the pouch is dry as well.

Jon Line

Despite ripping currents and crowded ascent lines, you can hang on the ascent line at a desired depth with Dive Rite's jon line. The jon line allows multiple divers to stay at the same depth on one line, and keeps you from being pulled up and down by a pitching and rolling boat in rough seas. This allows you to maintain a specific depth for decompression or safety stops while maintaining contact with the line. It easily clips into an anchor line or down line, just as easily unlocks from the line making depth changes effortless. The Dive Rite Jon Line is available in two versions:

The Jon Line with Carabiner contains six feet of black 1.0-inch nylong webbing and a stainless steel carabiner. This version is stored in a handy dispenser that fits on any 2.0-inch harness webbing.
The Jon Line with Garvin Hook is six feet of yellow 1.0-inch nylon webbing with a hand loop at one end and a Garvin hook at the other end. The Jon Line is stowed using an elastic loop and pull tab.
